Stool 41°51N 1°48E is part of Neomateria – Resonant Growth, a project developed in 2025 in collaboration with Materfad, CCAM, and Multifab BCN, co-curated with Robert D. Thompson.
The broader project explored how environmental data could intervene in digital-artisanal fabrication processes. Through sensors placed across different locations in Catalonia, data was collected on micro-electrical variations, soil pH, moisture, and underground sounds. This information was then used to influence the creation of five pieces in glass, metal, cotton, ceramics, and wood.
The stool presented in the exhibition is one of these outcomes. Natural inputs modified morphological parameters during its development, shifting part of the decision-making process beyond direct human control. The project explores a design process in which environmental conditions become active inputs in shaping the final object.
