Most of the Gentler Futures Festival program is free.
Not because it has no cost—but because we believe access should not depend on it.

Gentler Futures Festival is a not-for-profit initiative exploring how design can go beyond capital and growth, to contribute to social, environmental and economic well-being. Each edition brings together designers, architects, researchers, and makers to share their work, test ideas, and open up processes that others can learn from or build upon.
We keep talks, exhibitions, installations and performances free, and workshops at a low cost, so that as many people as possible can take part. We believe that in making ideas, knowledge, and conversations accessible we can empower anyone to shape the future.

But making something accessible does not mean it is free to produce.
Organising the Festival requires months of work (and care)—from research and curation to coordination, production, and communication. Public funding supports part of that work, but not all of it.

This year, we are introducing a new way to support and engage with the Festival.
Not just as a ticket, but as a way to (sustain) what Gentler Futures stands for.
This year, we are introducing a new way to support and engage with the Festival.
Not just as a ticket, but as a way to (sustain) what Gentler Futures stands for.
The (changemaker) pass is a way for those who can, to support the work behind Gentler Futures Festival—and to help keep it open and accessible for everyone else.
By becoming a (changemaker), you are directly contributing to:
— keeping most of the program free to attend
— fairly compensating invited artists, speakers, and collaborators
— supporting the research and production behind the initiative
— enabling emerging and diverse voices to be part
— sustaining Gentler Futures as an independent, not-for-profit initiative
As part of this, you are invited into a closer layer of the Festival:
— invitation to the pre-opening aperitivo on June 4, together with the team and this year’s line-up of projects
— access to a workshop of your choice
— a limited edition (gentler) tote bag, made in Europe
— a (changemaker) badge and lanyard
The (changemaker) pass is a patron type of access for those who want to help sustain the work behind Gentler Futures Festival, while allowing it to remain an independent initiative, open and accessible to others. In essence: some people choose to contribute more, so that most of the program can stay free or at a low cost.
Getting an early bird ticket to a workshop or set of workshops allows you access at a reduced price. The price of the ticket reflects costs of production and materials. Reduced prices are supported by DGArtes public funding.
