By now, it is well known that the construction sector has a huge impact on our environment and on our lives. Nowadays, this industry and its supply chain have become profoundly elaborated and more and more complex. By presenting architectural and design projects using raw earth as main ingredient, MaTierra will take the opportunity to debate about the importance of (re)using natural materials in construction and to bring back the act of building to a more local and ‘human’ scale.
MaTierra brings Gentler Futures Festival 2024 a live demonstration of different raw earth construction and finishing techniques, such as rammed earth, earth plaster, rammed earth floor and adobes. The spectators will be encouraged to take part in the demonstration through an immersive experience in which they are invited to touch and feel the material, understand its main characteristics, qualities and uses.
MaTierra is an architecture and construction atelier with a focus on raw earth and ecological materials. The atelier aims to develop truly ecological, high-quality architecture and wants to make it accessible to everybody. MaTierra believes that the process of choosing and testing the right construction materials together with the act of building are fundamental aspects of each project.
